8-day Trekking

The programme at a glance

Eight days, five walking days, one rest day. You walk individually — we handle transfers, hotel changes and luggage. Each morning the driver brings you to the trailhead; at the end he picks you up and takes you to the next hotel.

Day by Day

• Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel
• Day 2:
  Santana – São Jorge

  Visit the impressive church of São Jorge. Your hike will take you down the coastal path to Calhau and up to Santana on the other side. Spectacular views of the coast and the sea accompany you.

• Day 3:
  Caldeirão Verde

  One of Madeira's most spectacular levada hikes — through canyons to the hidden Green Cauldron.

• Day 4:
  Machico – Porto da Cruz (Larano)

  On the old wine transport road, you go uphill and downhill from Porto da Cruz to Machico. Enjoy the wonderful view of the northeast coast. Mimosa and eucalyptus trees line the path.

• Day 5:
  Santo da Serra – Camacha

  Levada walk through terraced fields and dense laurel forest — with passionfruit along the way.

• Day 6:
  Camacha – Monte

  From the pilgrimage town of Monte along the Levada dos Tornos with sweeping views over Funchal.

• Day 7: Free day — at your own disposal
• Day 8: Transfer back to the airport for your departure
